Comparison of PCOS vs PCOD

PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome) and PCOD (Polycystic Ovarian Disease) are common conditions that affect the ovaries, but they are not the same. PCOS is a hormonal and metabolic disorder that often causes irregular or absent ovulation, higher levels of male hormones, and a greater risk of health problems such as diabetes, heart disease, and infertility if left untreated. PCOD, on the other hand, is generally a milder condition in which the ovaries produce immature eggs that may develop into cysts. Women with PCOD may still ovulate and usually have a lower risk of long-term complications. Both conditions can cause irregular menstrual cycles, weight changes, and acne, although these symptoms are typically more severe in PCOS. The good news is that both PCOS and PCOD can be effectively managed with healthy lifestyle changes, regular exercise, a balanced diet, weight management, and medical treatment when recommended by a healthcare professional.
